Bilbao

Tradition, modernity and culture in a single destination

Our colleagues have prepared a very complete guide for visiting Bilbao, including important landmarks, bars and restaurants, typical basque food, and routes for pitxos (small tapas).

We invite you to live an unforgettable experience in Bilbao, where tradition and modernity intertwine. Located in the heart of the Basque Country, Bilbao has gone from being an important industrial centre to an international cultural and tourist reference point.

The Guggenheim Museum, with its iconic titanium silhouette, has been key to Bilbao's transformation, attracting visitors from all over the world. But the city offers much more: its Old Town, with cobbled streets steeped in history, is home to the Cathedral of Santiago and a lively social life in its pintxo bars. The Bilbao Estuary, the city's central axis, invites you to stroll along its renovated seafront promenade, where you will find architectural gems such as the Euskalduna Palace, the Zubizuri Bridge and the emblematic Bilbao Suspension Bridge. The latter, also known as the Vizcaya Bridge, is a masterpiece of industrial engineering and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, linking the banks of Portugalete and Getxo with its innovative suspended ferry system. Bilbao also hosts major cultural and sporting events, from the prestigious BBK Live festival to important football matches at San Mamés

Just a few minutes away, Barakaldo complements this offer with its dynamic spirit and its importance within the metropolitan area. Formerly linked to the steel industry, today it is a modern city with large green spaces such as the Botanical Gardens and an intense commercial life. In addition, the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) makes Barakaldo an epicentre for international events, hosting trade fairs, concerts and conferences of great importance.
